CHARTER:

alt.emergency-services.moderated (AESM) is a forum for those involved in
the emergency services to discuss topics of interest to the emergency
services community.  This includes fire, emergency medical services, search
and rescue, and similar fields.  Although not intended specifically for law
enforcement, those topics are welcome if they contain an element of
interest to the other branches listed above.  Career and volunteers are
both welcome.

Advertising:

Advertisements are prohibited with the following exceptions:

    Job opening announcements may be posted if they are for emergency
    services positions and posted no more than once per month.

    Posters may advertise their company or services in their signatures,
    provided the signature does not exceed 4-6 lines of text.

    Non-profit groups whose activities are of interest to the emergency
    services community may post announcements regarding meetings,
    conventions, and the like.

Attachments and Formatting:

Binary attachments are prohibited.  Cryptographic signatures such as PGP may
be used for authentication.

Posts must be plain text.  HTML, RTF, and similarly formatted messages are
prohibited.

Other Prohibited Posts:

Off-topic posts; spam; articles cross-posted to more than 3 groups;
repetitive posts of the same article; flames, trolls, and ad hominem
attacks; and articles with illegal content are prohibited.

Moderation:

Moderators may use whatever tools they feel appropriate to ensure the
smooth running of the group.  The moderators shall periodically publish
a document detailing how moderation is currently performed.

Moderators will be selected by group consensus.
