News Reader Client Applications

News reader client applications provide the online vehicle for you to access the Usenet across the Internet, enabling you to read and post messages.

There are three main options for accessing the Usenet as described below: a full stand-alone client program, a news reader integrated with an email program, or online access through a website.

Client applications. A full news reader application that you download and install on your computer typically provides the fastest access and fullest functionality. The following resources provide access to stand-alone applications:

Browsers. Some email programs include an integrated Usenet news reader, as with the free open source software application Mozilla Thunderbird.

Websites. The following websites provide access to the Usenet, some just for reading the newsgroups, some also for posting:
